Madrid, December 2, 2025 – This morning, the new Expansion Plan for Movistar Arena was officially presented at an event presided over by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Regional Government of Madrid and Manuel Saucedo, CEO of Movistar Arena.
During the event, the findings of the Socioeconomic Impact Study carried out by OJD Spain — a proud member of IFABC — were unveiled. The study quantifies the economic value of this iconic venue for the region of Madrid.
Key Findings of the Study
According to the results, Movistar Arena generated an economic impact of €577 million in 2024 and contributed to the creation of 13,600 jobs in the Madrid Region.
These figures cement Movistar Arena’s status as one of Europe’s leading venues, ranking highly in the “World 200 Arenas” list both for the number of events hosted and tickets sold.
Looking Ahead: Spain’s Largest Indoor Venue
The new Expansion Plan will increase the arena’s capacity from 17,453 to 20,008 spectators, making it the largest urban indoor venue in Spain.
This upgrade will further strengthen its position as a premier location for major concerts, sporting events, and international shows — enhancing its economic impact even more. Two key improvements were also highlighted: enhanced soundproofing and sustainability measures, including solar panels installed on the roof, which now supply a significant portion of the venue’s energy needs.
OJD: Measuring the Impact of the Entertainment Industry
For OJD, this project marks another milestone in our evolution as an organization. By applying our rigorous measurement and auditing expertise to the live entertainment sector, we deliver reliable data that helps quantify the real economic and social value of the industry.
“At OJD, we are proud to contribute accurate data that highlights the real impact of the entertainment industry. Studies like this one prove that large venues are key economic drivers — in this case, Movistar Arena for the Madrid Region,” said Manuel Sala, CEO of OJD Spain and President of IFABC.
About the Study
The Socioeconomic Impact Study analyses both the direct effects of the venue’s activity and its indirect and induced impact across sectors such as hospitality, transport, tourism, and retail. The €577 million figure includes attendee spending and the broader economic multiplier effect, while the 13,600 jobs cover both direct employment and jobs supported across the entire value chain.
This new service launched by OJD represents a significant step forward in certifying the economic impact of venues in line with industry standards.
