How to Start an Audit Bureau

Independent audit bureaux are founded and prosper because advertisers and advertising agencies are united and persistent in the demand for independently audited media and other data. Media owners who agree to an audit provide a benchmark for the industry and challenge their peers to adhere to the standards established by the audit bureau. The guiding principle of IFABC members is industry self-regulation, negating the need for government interference.

10 Steps to Get Started

Number 1

Inform the IFABC Secretariat with your intention to develop an audit organization in your country. We will assist you through the process and put you in touch with an existing IFABC member as a mentor.

Number 3

Establish a working group of publishers, advertising and media agencies, and advertisers and marketers.

Number 5

Adapt the sample documents to suit the needs of your market.

Number 7

Send the documents to the IFABC Secretariat for initial approval by the executive board.

Number 9

The IFABC will invoice your membership fee based on the total annual circulation of your market.

Number 4

The Secretariat will provide the following documents that you may use as a basis for your own: constitution/article of association, structures, procedures, rules, data publishing format and fee structure.
