Digital Publications Metrics

Digital publications form part of media owners' brand portfolios, the International Federation of Audit Bureaux of Certification (IFABC) has released a guide for reporting digital media (non-website) by its membership.

The IFABC suggests reporting digital magazines in two categories: "replica" and "non-replica". However,the IFABC also acknowledges the rapidly changing media landscape and has provided four definitions of digital media such that members can expand on the suggested two categories. The expanded definitions are: "editorial replica", "editorial plus","targeted" and "dynamic".

As digital media continues to evolve, the IFABC will explore new metrics that help document usage and performance. Measurement of emails sent per issue, unique user of each issue by date, issues opened by regular subscriber and content sharing are just some of the benchmark metrics to be considered for future reporting by IFABC members.
